Prepare your home for winter by extending the life of your fuel supply; insulate the walls, caulking and weather stripping doors and windows, covering the windows and plastics.

Clean the rain gutters.

Repair the roof leaks.

If you have trees and plants cut away their braches that may fall on the house or other structure during the storm.

To avoid freezing during the cold weather insulate the pipes with newspaper, plastic or using insulation.

Keep the fire extinguishers ready and ensure that everyone in the family knows how to use it.

Hire a contractor and check the ability of the roof that it is suitable to withstand the heavy weight that is formed due to the accumulation of snow or water.

Make sure that you are able to shut off the water valves.
